Moving in Stereo proceeds opening band Ion Sky in Music on the Pier.
The city of Dunkirk’s Music on the Pier Summer Concert Series new wave night is tonight on the Dunkirk Pier. Sponsored by Graf Realty, Ion Sky begins at 5:25 p.m. followed by headliner Moving in Stereo – A Tribute to The Cars at 6:45 p.m.
The concerts are presented by DFT Communications, Chautauqua Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and stage sponsor National Grid with Advanced Production Group as the production company.
Ion Sky is a local Dunkirk four-piece band that performs light rock, country, pop, hard rock and alternative music. Ion Sky is influenced by many popular artists of today including Cee-Lo-Green, Jason Derulo, Sugarland, Bruno Mars and Walk the Moon, while also sticking to the classics of Journey, Melissa Etheridge, Pat Benatar and the Rolling Stones. Band members include Tara Graves (Lead Vocals/Acoustic Guitar/Keys), Gregg Stranahan (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Jack Pasquale (Bass Guitar/Vocals) and Bradley Heath (Drums//Cajon/Vocals).
The intense passion and drive from all four members of Ion Sky allow the band to be as tight as possible while having fun with the audience at the same time.
The Cars were the most successful American new wave band to emerge in the late 70’s. With their sleek, mechanical pop/rock, the band racked up a string of platinum albums and Top 40 singles that made it one of the most popular rock and roll bands of the 70’s and early 80’s.
Moving in Stereo – A Tribute to The Cars, recreates the sights and sounds of The Cars at the height of their powers. With a song list that spans the bands recording career, the band guarantees you’ll love all the favorite Cars hits that will “move you in stereo.”
Danny Ayala (Vocals/Guitar), Matt Fuller (Vocals/Bass), Bob Heazlit (Guitar/Vocals), Lars Altvater (Synth/Vocals) and Bryan Beyer (Drums) make up the popular band from Cleveland.
On Thursday pier concert dates, the pier will be closed to traffic at 2 p.m. Guests are reminded to bring a chair. Food trucks and other vendors will be on site along with the beverage tent provided by Arthur R Gren Company and Southern Tier Brewing Company. The Dunkirk Boardwalk Marketplace will also be open.
The weather-related canceled July 20 concert reschedule update will be announced soon. The rained-out July 6 show is rescheduled with Sean Patrick McGraw on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 5:25 to 8:45 p.m. For more information about Dunkirk’s summer schedule of events or local attractions, please visit www.cityofdunkirk.com or Facebook at Dunkirk Festivals & Special Events or call Ryan Hall at (716) 366-9886.
